Job summary

Kent Hospital in Warwick, RI, is seeking a compassionate Nursing Assistant to provide essential patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

You will assist with hygiene, daily activities, monitor vital signs, and help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment while documenting care and communicating changes to the RN.

Eligible candidates have Vocational/Technical training and a RI Nursing Assistant license.

Qualifications

• Vocational/Technical training and more than six months job-related experience or equivalent.
• RI State Nursing Assistant license is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide general patient care and routine treatments as directed by the RN.
• Assist with personal hygiene to promote comfort and well-being.
• Check and record intake and output as ordered.
• Take and record patient vital signs and measurements.
• Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment with stocked supplies.
• Maintain patient records and document care accurately.
• Observe patients and report changes to RN/Team Leader.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsible for performing various patient care activities and related non-professional services to care for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and observe all hospital policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide general patient care and performs routine treatments and procedures as directed by the Registered Provide care, assisting with personal hygiene to promote patient’s comfort and well-being.
• Check and record intake and output as ordered.
• Take and record patient’s vital signs and other measurements as indicated.
• Give enemas, reinforce simple non-sterile dressings, apply binders, collect specimens, apply heat or cold devices and perform other routine tasks.
• Assist the RN in caring for seriously ill patients or in complicated treatments or procedures.
• Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment with well-stocked supplies and functioning equipment.
• Maintain patient’s medical records in an orderly manner and document all care provided and significant information, legibly, accurately and completely.
• Observe assigned patients and report any patient care problem, change in patient condition or unexpected occurrences to RN/Team Leader.
• Maintain current knowledge of specialty by attending seminars and in-services.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.
