Summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as a caregiver to the patient during the scheduled work period. The NA provides patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Job Responsibilities
  1. Assist with basic healthcare needs including activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, meal preparation, and addressing emotional and spiritual needs.
  2. Administer delegated tasks and treatments.
  3. Record vital signs and other basic health information.
  4. Collect non-invasive biological specimens from patients as needed.
  5. Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare.
  6. Prepare patient treatment areas, clean medical equipment, and dispose of biomedical waste following standards and policies.
  7. Clean patient living areas or treatment rooms.
  8. Provide one-on-one care to patients when necessary for safe care provision.
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred but not required. Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred. Must obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications. In North Dakota, non-CNA employees must be listed on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry within four months of employment or upon training completion.
