Job summary

Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation in Jackson, MS is seeking a dedicated Nursing Support/Certified Nursing Assistant to join the Medical Surgical Unit. The role provides patient care under RN supervision, maintaining a safe, clean environment and assisting with transports and basic tasks.

Minimum one year recent experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, CNA/MA/AEMT licensure, and BLS certification within 14 days of hire are required.

Qualifications

• 1 year recent (within past 6 months) patient care experience.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• CNA program/certification or MA/AEMT/Paramedic licensure/certification.
• BLS certification within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Communicates and collaborates with the professional registered nurse.
• Performs patient care tasks under the direction of the RN including vital signs, blood glucose testing, phlebotomy, electrode placement, venous compression devices.
• Performs basic patient care services under the direction of the RN including height & weight, intake & output, retrieval of equipment & supplies, stocking patient rooms.
• Maintains a conducive environment for the patient including clutter-free rooms and removal of linen/trash; ensures quiet surroundings.
• Supports patient/family communication needs including answering call lights, orienting new patients to the room, assisting with discharge appointments.
• Promotes safety including assisting with patient mobility and safety rounds/4Ps.
• Promotes comfort including providing water, ice, cups, pillows, blankets and assistance with meals.
• Transports non-monitored patients and assists RN with monitored transport as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
