Job summary

The Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation is seeking a patient care helper to perform basic patient care tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse at our Jackson, MS facility.

You will assist with vital signs, basic patient services, and safe, clean patient areas while supporting patient and family communication and discharge activities. Certification options include CNA, AEMT/Paramedic, or MA programs, with BLS within 14 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Communicates with the professional registered nurse and collaborates as part of the care team.
• Performs patient care tasks under RN direction, including vital signs and basic procedures.
• Maintains a clean, safe patient environment and supports comfort and discharge processes.

Responsibilities

• Communicates and collaborates with the professional registered nurse.
• Performs patient care tasks under the direction of the RN including vital signs, blood glucose testing, phlebotomy, electrode placement, venous compression devices
• Performs basic patient care services under the direction of the RN including height & actual weights, intake & output, retrieval of equipment & supplies, stocks patient rooms
• Maintains a conducive environment for the patient including clutter free rooms, removing linen/trash from rooms, quiet surroundings
• Supports patient/family communication needs including answering call lights, orienting new patients to the room, assisting with discharge appointments
• Promotes safety including assisting with patient mobility, safety rounds/4Ps
• Promotes comfort including providing water, ice, cups, pillows, blankets, assistance with meals
• Transports non-monitored patients
• Assists RN with monitored and/or intubated transports
• Performs other duties as assigned
