Job summary

Baptist Memorial Health Care seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant to support patient care under the direction of a registered nurse. You will perform basic care tasks and assist with patient comfort, safety, and mobility while upholding patient dignity.

You will collaborate with RNs, monitor vital signs, assist with transports, and help discharge planning as needed. A high school diploma is required, with CNA certification and BLS due within 14 days of hire.

Qualifications

• 1 year recent (within past 6 months) CNA experience.
• CNA Program/Certification or AEMT/Paramedic Licensure/Certification or MA Program/Certification; BLS Certification within 14 days of hire.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Communicates and collaborates with the professional registered nurse.
• Performs patient care tasks under the direction of the RN including vital signs, blood glucose testing, phlebotomy, electrode placement, venous compression devices.
• Performs basic patient care services under the direction of the RN including height & actual weights, intake & output, retrieval of equipment & supplies, stocks patient rooms.
• Maintains a conducive environment for the patient including clutter free rooms, removing linen/trash from rooms, quiet surroundings.
• Supports patient/family communication needs including answering call lights, orienting new patients to the room, assisting with discharge appointments.
• Promotes safety including assisting with patient mobility, safety rounds/4Ps.
• Promotes comfort including providing water, ice, cups, pillows, blankets, assistance with meals.
• Transports non-monitored patients.
• Assists RN with monitored and/or intubated transports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
