Salary Range: $24.54 - $32.82/hour

The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at the Washington State Penitentiary (WSP) in Walla Walla, WA. The CNA supports the Department's mission to improve public safety by delivering nursing services that promote health, foster healing, and support coping with health conditions.

CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT - ON CALL

Location: Washington State Penitentiary (WSP), Walla Walla, WA

Salary Range: $24.54 - $32.82/hour

The CNA provides comprehensive health services under supervision to promote wellness and prepare inmates for reintegration into the community. Application assessment will be ongoing, and early application is encouraged. This recruitment may fill multiple positions, permanent or non-permanent.

Responsibilities
  • Assist registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, or medical practitioners in providing health services to individuals and groups, supporting the agency's mission.
  • Practice safely and effectively within the scope of practice defined by law, ensuring patient safety and effective care.
  • Participate in evaluating service delivery and treatment outcomes, ensuring competency in nursing assistant activities.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, healthcare staff, and other personnel to facilitate care and problem-solving.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships, maintain professional boundaries, and support patient self-care and understanding of health conditions.
  • Maintain reliable attendance, work professionally, and collaborate effectively with diverse staff and offenders.
Qualifications
  • Unrestricted licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Washington State.
  • Certification in Emergency First Response from the American Heart Association.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform nursing assistant activities.
  • Ability to use computer systems for documentation and communication.
