Works under the supervision of Registered Nurse/LPN and Nurse Manager/Director in the personal care of hospital patients and their environment (including those needing special precautions) and performs specified treatments. The individual must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care for patients in the assigned unit, understanding principles of growth and development over the lifespan. The role promotes and maintains a safe work environment for staff and patients, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.

What you will do

1. Understand and utilize technology systems necessary for patient data collection.
2. Ensure the availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) to promote positive patient outcomes. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work/patient environment by cleaning workstations/areas, equipment, stocking supplies, and proper storage of equipment.
3. Follow the plan of care to perform treatments and procedures competently and independently under the direction of RN/LPN. Procedures may include enemas, vital signs, ice application, compresses, perineal care, rectal tube, sitz bath, unsterile sites, strain urine for stones, specimen collection, etc., depending on unit/facility competency requirements.
4. Adhere to the plan of care to ensure patients receive consistent, competent, and ethical care within legal standards, respecting patient privacy and values. Provide care based on verbal and written instructions, demonstrating understanding of assigned plans of care within scope of practice, and accurately complete all documentation.
5. Participate actively in training and support of team members, volunteers, and students as needed.

• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) upon hire (Required)
