Mercyhealth Freeport Hospital in Freeport, IL is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for the Med-Surg unit. The role supports nurses and the interdisciplinary team, assists with daily patient needs, and helps maintain a safe, organized care environment. Shifts are 6:30am–7pm, three 12-hour days per week.

Required CNA certification in the applicable state and CPR/BLS within 90 days. Strong communication and attention to detail are essential to delivering high-quality care during patients’

## Certified Nursing Assistant - Med-Surg, Full-time DaysApply: Onsite: Mercyhealth Freeport Hospital - Freeport, IL: Full time: Posted Today: 2026-03534**OVERVIEW:**As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on a Medical-Surgical Unit, you will provide compassionate, hands-on patient care while supporting nurses and the interdisciplinary team in delivering safe, high-quality care. You will assist with daily patient needs, monitor and report changes in condition, perform delegated clinical tasks within your scope of practice, maintain accurate documentation, and help ensure a clean, organized care environment. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing exceptional care and support to patients throughout their hospital stay. **Schedule:** 3, 12-hour shifts per week**Shift:** Days, 6:30am-7pm **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*** Provides patient care as assigned and per routine as defined by educational scope, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures.* Answers call lights in a timely and appropriate manner.* Documents care provided according to standards.* Maintains a clean work and patient environment.* Maintains supplies, including scanning, stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.* Floats to various units based on identified patient care needs.* Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities.* Training/precepting new partners in collaboration with unit educator* Blood Glucose Monitoring (BGM) with lab personnel* Bladder scanning procedure reviewed* Bladder scanner training complete (check off sheet for competency)* Attaching patient to remote telemetry or bedside cardiac monitor* Managing and reporting collection devices:* Colostomy, ileostomy or other fecal management systems: care and output measures* Indwelling catheters: care and output measures* Nasogastric tubes to suction* Surgical drains under direction of supervising RN* Competent in completing vital signs: Manual process for blood pressure and required reporting of abnormal values to supervising RN* Discontinue invasive devices under the direction of the supervising RN:* Indwelling (Foley) catheters* Nasogastric tubes* Peripherally inserted intravenous catheters* Similar devices as appropriate**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE**Completion of a CNA program.**CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE**Current CNA certificate in applicable state.
