Job Description

This position is contingent on Contract Award.

The overall purpose of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is to provide essential support and care to patients under the supervision of nurses and physicians. CNAs assist with daily living activities such as bathing, feeding, and mobility, as well as performing vital signs checks, aiding in examinations, and maintaining patient documentation. They ensure patient comfort and safety while facilitating effective communication between patients and healthcare providers. Certified Nursing Assistants work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, and military facilities.

Key Responsibilities

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care support in Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs), including but not limited to San Antonio-area medical facilities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and ambulation.
  • Taking and recording vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
  • Observing and reporting changes in patients’ condition to licensed nursing staff.
  • Supporting clinical staff during patient examinations and treatments.
  • Maintaining patient hygiene and comfort in accordance with facility protocols.
  • Transporting patients safely using wheelchairs, stretchers, or other assistive devices.
  • Ensuring clean, organized patient areas and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Accurately documenting care provided and patient responses in electronic and/or paper records as required by the facility.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:

  • Must hold an active, unrestricted CNA certification from a recognized training institution or government-sponsored developmental program.
  • Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum of one year of CNA experience within the past three years in a relevant healthcare setting.

Education Required:

  • Completion of a state-approved CNA training program.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods.
  • May be exposed to contagious diseases, radiation, and high-stress environments.

Other Special Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
  • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance.

Additional Information

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.

Compensation: Min: $15/hr Max: $30/hr

Benefits – Full-time positions are eligible for our comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance.
