Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant for the PACU at NH NHRMC. You will provide patient-centered care, support daily activities, and help ensure comfort and dignity during each patient’s stay.

Collaborate with nurses and providers, monitor vitals, document accurately, and contribute to a calm, compassionate environment for patients and families. Rotation shifts in PACU offer growth within Novant Health.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; NAI program completion is required.
• One year of relevant experience preferred; one year required for Assisted Living facilities.
• Listed with the nurse aide registry as an NA I; Medication Safety - AME required.
• NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and assist with daily activities.
• Collaborate with nurses and providers, sharing observations to support care plans.
• Assist with mobility, ambulation, repositioning, and fall-prevention.
• Document vitals and patient status accurately to aid clinical decisions.
• Create a calm, supportive environment for patients and families.
• Assist with activities of daily living and maintain a safe, clean environment.
• Assisted Living: assist residents with daily living and report changes to Charge Nurse.

What You'll Do

• Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care by using your clinical experience to anticipate needs, support daily activities, and promote comfort and dignity throughout each patient’s stay.
• Serve as a trusted partner to nurses and providers, using your seasoned judgment to share meaningful observations, support care plans, and help the team stay aligned in a fast‑paced environment.
• Guide safe mobility and recovery efforts, drawing on your expertise to assist with ambulation, repositioning, and fall‑prevention practices that keep patients progressing safely.
• Ensure accurate, timely documentation of vitals and patient status, contributing reliable information that strengthens communication and supports excellent clinical decision‑making.
• Foster a calm, supportive environment for patients and families, using your experience to offer reassurance, set expectations, and help others feel grounded during challenging moments.
• Provides and documents assistance to patients with activities of daily living and maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
• Assisted Living units only: Responsible for assisting residents with activities of daily living as scheduled and reporting any change in status to the Charge Nurse

What We’re Looking For

• Education: High school diploma, required. Completion of NAI program, required.
• Experience: One year of relevant experience, preferred. One year required, Assisted Living facilities only: experience working in long-term care or assisted living
• Licensure/Certification:
  • Completion of NAI program, Required.
  • Listed with the nurse aide registry as an NA I, Required. Medication Safety - AME, Required.
  • NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, Required.
• Additional skills preferred: Basic computer skills for documentation.
