Job Description

The Certified Nursing Assistant performs various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. The Nursing Assistant assists with patient cleaning, feeding, and preparation for treatment, takes and records vital signs, changes bed linen, prepares treatment trays and other supplies, and assists nursing service personnel with a variety of other patient care duties. Relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision.

Responsibilities

1. Properly identifies patient by requesting patient name, DOB prior to any patient interactions.
2. Obtains and documents vital signs (weight, height, blood pressure, pulse, respirations) and LMP. Expediently reports any unusual incidents or observed changes in patient condition or behavior to appropriate personnel.
3. Ensures confidentiality of protected patient health information by utilizing safe business practices that support HIPAA regulations.
4. Greet each patient with direct eye contact, introduce yourself, and explain what you are about to do.
5. Prepares, stocks, and cleans exam rooms and maintains supplies and equipment for patient care.
6. Performs CLIA waived testing as ordered and documents.
7. Participates in quality improvement initiatives, including gathering and trending data and supporting process changes to improve quality of care and processes.
8. Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic healthcare environment by cleaning rooms and equipment, preparing for sterilization and disinfection, reporting damaged equipment, and handling linen and supplies properly.
9. Understands and adheres to corporate compliance procedures, accrediting standards, and ethical directives when providing care.
10. Uses equipment, supplies, and resources prudently to ensure efficient operations and high-quality care.
11. Engages in ongoing education and training to enhance performance and skills.
12. Coordinates patient flow to ensure physician efficiency, managing schedules and wait times.
13. Checks refrigerator temperature daily (if assigned) and documents; cleans refrigerator as assigned.
14. Performs daily CLIA waived testing controls, checks for expiration on bottles.
15. Monitors oxygen tank levels and notifies management when replacement is needed.
16. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
