Job summary

Long Island State Veterans Home, located on the campus of Stony Brook University, seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant to deliver compassionate daily care under RN/LPN supervision. You will engage residents in activities of daily living and support their comfort and dignity.

Required NYS Nurse Aide Certification; preferred 1 year in healthcare and long-term care, plus strong communication and computer skills. Working conditions may include exposure to infectious environments and varied shifts.

Qualifications

• NYS Nurse Aide Certification.
• One year of healthcare experience preferred.
• One year of long term care experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Attend to daily living activities and assist residents with personal hygiene and daily care.
• Move, lift, and transport residents using devices as directed by staff.
• Talk to residents, encourage cooperation, and support rehabilitation activities.
• Transport residents and supplies as needed.
• Maintain residents’ rights, dignity, and confidentiality.
• Perform housekeeping duties related to direct care and keep facility clean.
