Position Summary:

A CNA is responsible for assisting participants in the Day Center with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as showering, eating, dressing, etc. They also assist in instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) and restorative care, including accompaniment to clinic appointments, physical therapy exercises, and quality of life activities. CNAs play a vital role in helping our participants live as independently as possible and are an integral part of the interdisciplinary team (IDT).

Responsibilities and Duties
Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist participants with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, hair care, mouth care, eating, nail care, toileting) as needed
  • Create and participate in group and one-on-one activities in the memory impaired unit
  • Monitor and assist participants during meals at feeding tables
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in day rooms, kitchens, and personal care areas
  • Assist drivers with loading and unloading participants from vehicles
  • Demonstrate dependability by adhering to scheduled work hours
  • Participate in care planning with interdisciplinary teams
  • Assist other departments as approved by the Day Center Supervisor
  • Help with Meal Reimbursement sheets as needed
  • Document services accurately and promptly in Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Handle potentially infectious specimens with proper biohazard precautions and universal precautions
  • Respond warmly and effectively to all customer groups
  • Participate in quality assurance and program improvement initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; must be licensed as a CNA in Colorado
  • At least one year of experience with a frail, elderly, or disabled population
  • Current First Aid/BLS Certification
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency with computer applications (email, internet, electronic records)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of medical equipment use and maintenance (preferred)
