Unit Bio:
The Surgical Oncology unit cares for a variety of surgical oncology specialties, such as complex Upper and Lower GI, GYNOncology and Head and Neck. This unit also serves as an acute medical/surgical unit which includes 12 Intermediate Level Care beds.
The nursing staff have worked to create a work environment which values excellence, teamwork, and peer support. Nursing staff work collaboratively with leadership in a shared governance model. R4 is a very goal-driven unit and they encourage staff to pursue professional goals.
Summary:
Under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse and according to defined policies and procedures, performs various service duties and technical tasks such as taking vital signs and assisting patients with basic hygiene and activities of daily living. Specific duties may vary by area of assignment. Consideration of the special needs and behaviors of specific patient populations is required.
The Certified Nursing Assistant – Acute Care role assists in the administration of nursing care to designated patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Performs a variety of direct and indirect care duties.
