Job summary

Harmony Senior Services is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant/Direct Care Giver to provide quality daily living support to residents in our community. You will assist with activities of daily living, help plan activities, and ensure a safe, respectful environment.

You will document resident status, respond to requests and emergencies, and maintain confidentiality of information while working as part of a dedicated nursing team. Training and flexible scheduling offered.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a current CNA license from the state where the community is located.
  • Effective communication skills in writing and speech.
  • Ability to stay organized and work well with all levels of staff.
  • Be a cooperative, contributing member of the nursing team.”

Job Description

The CNA/Direct Care Giver provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents of the community. The CNA encourages residents to function at their highest level of independence and to participate in community activities. Conducts activities and provides for a meaningful experience for all residents.

Responsibilities
  • Must maintain a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position.
  • Assists residents with activities of daily living.
  • Reports incidents involving residents, including care concerns or issues, to appropriate individuals (e.g., HCC, RN/LPN, or ED) and completes appropriate documentation.
  • Performs housekeeping duties, such as making resident beds, cleaning resident apartments, common areas, dining rooms, and other areas as directed by the supervisor.
  • Responds promptly to all resident calls for assistance or emergency alerts.
  • Must be able to remain calm and competent during emergency situations.
  • Assists in planning and conducting activity programs for residents.
  • Follows confidentiality policies regarding the release of resident information.
  • Assists residents to and from the dining room and to and from activities.
  • Checks on residents and ensures attendance at meals and activities.
  • Checks on residents who are ill, reports their status or concerns to appropriate individuals, and completes documentation when necessary.
  • Communicates verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming community information, resident appointments, admissions, and transfers.
  • Assists new residents with the move‑in transition by providing emotional support.
  • Reports all resident changes and interventions in the Daily Log and clinical record.
  • Notifies family members or responsible parties as directed.
  • Completes all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Must possess a current CNA license from the state in which the community is located and remain in good standing with the Board of Nursing.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be organized and able to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Must be a contributing member of the nursing team and follow the instructions of the supervisor.
  • Must be polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and coworkers at all times.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push or carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics.
  • Must wear the designated uniform during working hours, including a name badge, and maintain a welcoming, positive attitude.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
  • Must be able to represent the community in a positive and professional manner.
  • Must attend and complete all required in‑services and staff meetings.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays.
