Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in the United States is seeking a compassionate CNA/Direct Care Giver to support residents with daily living activities, help them maintain independence, and participate in community activities.

You will assist with mobility, hygiene, meals, and documentation; report concerns to the nursing team; participate in activity planning; and help families with move-in transitions while upholding confidentiality and safety.

Qualifications

  • Must possess current CNA license from the State in which the community is located and in good standing with the Board of Nursing.
  • Effective communication in writing and speaking.
  • Organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel.
  • Contribute to nursing team and follow supervisor instructions.
  • Be polite and considerate of residents, visitors and co-workers.
  • Able to walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Lift 50 lbs and push or carry 25 lbs.
  • Safely lift and transfer residents with proper body mechanics.
  • Uniformed attire with name badge and a smile.
  • CPR/First Aid certification, or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
  • Represent the community positively and professionally.
  • Attend in-services and staff meetings; flexible schedule including weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living and transportation to dining and activities.
  • Support residents to participate in community activities and maintain independence.
  • Perform housekeeping duties in resident areas and common spaces as directed.
  • Report incidents, care concerns, and documentation to appropriate team members.
  • Plan and conduct activity programs and provide emotional support during move-in transitions.
  • Communicate resident status and upcoming information to families and staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality and document changes in the daily log and clinical records.

Job description

The CNA/Direct Care Giver provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents of the community. The CNA encourages residents to function at their highest level of independence and to participate in community activities. Conducts activities and provides for a meaningful experience for all residents. Must maintain a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position Assists residents with activities of daily living Reports incidents involving residents to include care concerns or issues, to appropriate individuals (ex: HCC, RN/LPN, or ED) and completes appropriate documentation Perform housekeeping duties, such as making resident beds, cleaning resident apartments, common areas, dining room, etc. as directed by supervisor Respond promptly to all resident calls for assistance or emergency alerts Must be able to remain calm and competent during emergencies Assists in planning and conducting activity programs for residents Follows confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information Assists residents to and from the dining room, and to and from activities Checks on residents, ensures attendance at meals and activities Checks on residents who are ill and reports status or concerns to appropriate individuals documents appropriately when necessary Communicate verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming community information, resident appointments, admissions, and transfers Assists new residents with move-in transition: provide emotional support Reports all resident changes and interventions and interventions in the Daily Log and clinical record. Notifies family as directed.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics
  • Must be in designated uniform during working hours, to include name badge and a smile
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified, or be willing to become certified within 60 days of hire
  • Must be able to represent the community in a positive and professional manner
  • Must attend and complete all required in-services and staff meetings
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays
  • Completes all other duties as assigned
