Job Summary

This role collaborates to maintain patient safety and deliver basic patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. May involve constant observation of patients, notifying nursing staff of behavioral or status changes, and intervening as needed to ensure safety. Effective communication with co-workers, patients, families, and visitors is essential. Performs delegated functions and adheres to policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
• Hospital and telemetry experience (Preferred)
• Current Louisiana CNA certification (Required)
• BLS from the American Heart Association (to be obtained within 30 days)
• CPI certification (to be obtained within 30 days)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficiency with computers and software
• Effective communication skills
• Organizational and time management skills
• Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays

Key Responsibilities

• Support the care plan as delegated by the nurse
• Maintain a safe, clean environment
• Provide age-appropriate care based on physical, psychosocial, and safety needs
• Communicate effectively with the care team and patients
• Complete documentation accurately
• Respect patient privacy and adapt communication style accordingly
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Physical and Environmental Demands

Medium work requiring exertion of 20-50 pounds occasionally and 10-25 pounds frequently, with exposure to blood and body fluids. Work involves direct patient contact and occupational risks for exposure to communicable diseases.
