Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for providing direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, including clerical and communication duties to support departmental functions. All duties are performed collaboratively, adhering to competency standards. The CNA participates in delegated functions and commits to delivering quality service to patients, the public, and colleagues.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Assist patients with daily activities such as ROM exercises, ambulation, positioning, skin care, linen changes, feeding, and hygiene care.
  • Collect patient data and specimens, including urine, stool, and sputum, and record vital signs, weights, and other assessments.
  • Communicate patient status and report changes to licensed professionals.
  • Perform procedures like incentive spirometry, transport, prep for tests, assist therapists, oxygen therapy, post-mortem care, admissions/discharges, emergency assistance, equipment cleaning, suctioning, blood sugar testing, IV removal, and EKGs.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as answering phones, data entry, registration, supply coordination, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid CNA license issued by the Commonwealth of VA required.
  • AHA BLS CPR certification required at hire.
  • For Snowden at Fredericksburg: CPI certification required within 90 days of hire.
