Job summary

Majestic Care of Beckley is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide direct hands-on care to ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents and support nursing staff in daily activities.

Qualifications

• Certified and state tested as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state employed; certificate must be active, valid, and in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Perform or assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
• Respond to call lights to provide maximum comfort, safety and privacy.
• Transport residents by ambulation or wheelchair to dining areas, lobby and activities.
• Report significant findings/observations to the nurse immediately.
• Assist residents on admission, transfer and discharge to ensure smooth transitions.
• Safekeep residents’ personal possessions.
• Keep resident rooms neat and safe; follow infection control techniques.
• Respect residents’ rights, including privacy and confidentiality.
• Re-teach residents to perform ADL skills; provide restorative care to prevent complications.
• Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement and ensure follow-up.
• Converse with resident and family; assist adjustment to the community.
• Ensure adequate hydration and nutrition; report deviations to Charge Nurse.
• Monitor blood pressure, pulse, respirations, intake/output and weights accurately.

Position Overview

The CNA is a member of the community nursing team whose responsibility is to assist professional nursing personnel by delivering direct hands-on nursing care to ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents on a daily basis. The CNA is also responsible for assisting the residents to achieve the highest level of functioning while living as normal a lifestyle as possible.

Key Responsibilities

• To perform or assist the resident with completing Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
• Respond to residents call lights to provide maximum comfort, safety and privacy.
• Transport residents by ambulation or by wheelchair to areas of community (dining room, lobby and activities).
• Report any significant findings/observations to nurse immediately.
• Assist residents on admission, transfer and discharge to make a smooth transition.
• Responsible for the safekeeping of residents’ personal possessions.
• Keep resident rooms neat and safe.
• Follow proper infection control techniques
• Respect the rights of each resident, particularly privacy and confidentiality.
