Summary
Under the supervision of a Registered and/or Practical Nurse, performs various care activities for seniors in a long-term care environment. Assist residents with dressing, bathing, eating, and gathering vital signs. Document resident care and interactions as needed.

Essential Position Functions
The following duties are typical for this position. Other duties may be assigned:

• Respond to signal lights, bells, or intercom to determine residents’ needs.
• Assist residents with bathing, dressing, and undressing.
• Serve and collect food trays; assist residents requiring help with eating.
• Transport residents or assist with walking.
• Assist with examinations and treatments, including draping residents and holding instruments.
• Turn and reposition residents to prevent bedsores.
• Change bed linens, run errands, and answer calls.
• Measure and record vital signs and food and fluid intake/output.
• Assist with laundry and housekeeping duties.
• Maintain cleanliness of residents’ rooms.
• Dependable with good attendance and punctuality.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education/Experience
One-year certificate from college or technical school, or 3-6 months related experience, or equivalent. Certified Nurse’s Aide certification in Michigan required.
