Role of a CNA

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides exceptional resident care, following residents' care plans, completing documentation per regulations, and adhering to facility policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care per Care Plan, including ROM exercises, ambulation, transfers, feeding assistance, hygiene, skin checks, vital signs, and participation in reports.
• Identify and report potential problems in patient care.
• Ensure residents use adaptive equipment as ordered.
• Maintain residents' cleanliness, grooming, safety, and nutrition.
• Follow restorative nursing orders.
• Complete documentation and reports daily, including intake/output and bowel movements.
• Report changes in patient condition promptly to the Charge Nurse.
• Participate in committees and ongoing education.
• Maintain professional competence and foster good communication with team members, patients, families, and visitors.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

• Completion of an approved CNA program
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Current Continuing Education (CE) requirements
• Professional clinical care skills
• Patient advocacy and teamwork

Preferred:

• Computer skills, including Microsoft Office
• Experience in long-term care and rehabilitation
• Geriatric and disabled populations experience
• Bi-lingual in Spanish

Licenses and Certifications

• NJ CNA License
