Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for providing resident care and support in all activities of daily living, ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of all residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Assist with serving meals, feeding, providing fresh water, and nourishment between meals.
  2. Assist with personal hygiene tasks such as giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, shaves, and help with showers and baths; assist with bathroom travel.
  3. Help residents with ambulation, turning, and positioning.
  4. Monitor resident stability by checking vital signs and weight; record intake and output.
  5. Ensure resident comfort by responding to call lights and requests, utilizing resources, and reporting observations to the nursing supervisor.
  6. Complete documentation such as forms, reports, logs, and records.
  7. Maintain confidentiality of patient information, adhering to HIPAA and related laws.
  8. Follow professional standards, company policies, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including JCAHO standards.
  9. Participate in educational opportunities, stay updated with professional publications, and maintain licensure.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must:

  • Hold current certification as a CNA according to state laws.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Preferably have long-term care experience.
  • Possess current CPR certification.
  • Be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Physical Demands

The physical demands include sitting, standing, bending, walking regularly, and lifting/moving up to 100 pounds. Visual and auditory abilities should be sufficient for communication. The work environment is usually moderate noise.
