Responsible for assisting licensed nursing personnel in the provision of nursing care. Participates as a member of the healthcare team under the direction of a licensed nurse as defined by Standards and Authorized Duties for Certified Nursing Assistants (OAR 851-63-0010 - 0060, 0080, 0090) or Nursing Assistants (WAC 246-841-400, 405). Also assists with clerical functions, housekeeping, and patient transportation throughout the hospital.

Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center in Northwest Portland is known for its specialty programs and clinical excellence, including cancer care, kidney transplants, neurology, ophthalmology, weight-loss surgery, robotic surgery, rehabilitation, and Oregon’s only 24-hour urgent care located alongside an emergency room, providing access to emergency care if needed.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Provides care delegated and supervised by a registered nurse to meet the needs of clients based on their condition, development, and age.
  • Participates and implements interdisciplinary care plans as delegated.
  • Organizes and adapts care plans considering patient needs, desires, and routines.
  • Encourages self-care and independence as appropriate.
  • Identifies normal and abnormal mental functions and addresses needs and behaviors of cognitively impaired patients.
  • Cares for and maintains the client’s environment, avoiding hazards, using restraints properly, and following infection control procedures.
  • Recognizes signs of common disease conditions and communicates findings accurately and promptly.
  • Provides basic nutrition and oral fluid intake.
  • Recognizes emergencies and responds appropriately, demonstrating knowledge of emergency procedures.
  • Completes documentation according to guidelines.

Competency: Demonstrates knowledge of statutes and regulations, functions within legal boundaries of CNA practice, maintains current certification, and performs within the scope of practice with ongoing competency in technical skills.

Compensation

Hourly Wage: $20.39 - $27.61
