Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for providing direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, including clerical and communication duties to facilitate departmental efficiency. All duties are performed collaboratively with team members according to competency standards. The CNA participates in delegated functions and commits to delivering quality service to patients, the public, and co-workers.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with daily activities such as mobility, positioning, skin care, linen changes, feeding, and hygiene.
• Collect patient data and specimens, including urine, stool, sputum, and vital signs, and communicate patient status to licensed professionals.
• Perform and explain patient care procedures like incentive spirometry, transportation, prepping for tests, and emergency assistance.
• Maintain equipment, perform suction and blood sugar tests, and assist with IV removal and EKGs.
• Handle administrative tasks such as answering phones, data entry, patient registration, and supply coordination.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Active CNA license issued by the Commonwealth of VA required.
• CPR certification required at hire; BLS from AHA preferred.
• For Snowden at Fredericksburg: CPI certification required within 90 days of hire.
