Job summary

State of Wyoming's Wyoming Life Resource Center is seeking a Certified Nurse Aide to provide compassionate daily care, assist with activities, and support residents' independence. You will help residents with dressing, eating, and daily routines while promoting safety and well-being.

This active, meaningful role includes 12-hour shifts, 3 or 4 days off weekly, a $2,000 hiring bonus, and comprehensive benefits. Training and Greenhouse courses are part of growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of progressive work experience in human services at the level of a Human Services Aide.
  • Or an Associate’s Degree in Healthcare with 0–1 year of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with personal care and daily activities to support independence.
  • Accompany residents on community outings and engage in hobbies and recreation.
  • Advocate for residents to ensure their needs and goals are heard.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

PREFERENCES / AGENCY REQUIREMENTS
  • Current Wyoming Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certificate is required.
  • Completion of internal Greenhouse (Shahbaz) training is required within 6 months of hire.
KNOWLEDGE
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow the health and safety rules that keep our residents safe.
  • Ability to teach residents new skills during their daily routines or fun activities.
  • Knowledge of how to follow therapy and medical care plans for each resident.
  • Understanding how to remain calm and assist residents who are struggling or exhibiting challenging behaviors.
  • Knowledge of how to be professional and kind to residents, families, and co-workers.
  • Skills in using a computer to write notes and check work information.
  • Ability to manage your emotions effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Knowledge of emergency safety steps like First Aid, CPR (BLS), and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Knowledge of how to use and care for basic medical tools.
  • Ability to work well with residents who have severe disabilities and may have challenging behaviors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience Substitution:

  • 2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Human Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Human Services Aide

OR

  • Education: Associate’s Degree (typically in Healthcare)
  • Experience: 0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Human Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Human Services Aide
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • CNA Certification at the time of hire
  • Ability to complete Greenhouse (Shahbaz training) within six (6) months of hire.
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Safely move (twisting, bending, lifting, kneeling, pushing, pulling), position, and lift people with multiple and severe disabilities.
  • Ability to see and hear sufficiently to monitor sounds, noises, location of clients, etc. to assure safety and assess imminent danger and emerging concerns.
  • Ability to work alone and/or with multiple residents.
  • Ability to intervene and provide support and redirection during resident behavior episodes.
  • Ability to work in a high-stress situation when necessary.
NOTES
  • FLSA: Non-Exempt
  • The Wyoming Life Resource Center participates in E-Verify. We will provide the Social Security Administration, and if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security, with information from each new employee’s Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.   • A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the FBI for every successful applicant.

Hiring Bonus Eligibility and Conditions
  • New state employees and temporary employees accepting a permanent position.
  • Current state employees accepting a promotional opportunity - recruitment must have been open to the public.
  • One year of service in the position must be completed. Failure to complete this requirement will require reimbursement of the bonus with the funds deducted from the final pay.
  • Internal candidates will be required to remain in the position for a minimum of one (1) year from the promotion date.
  • Employees will only be eligible for one (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.
