Job Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and/or charge nurse, provides individualized care to residents, including routine daily care, promoting maximum independence, safety, and comfort.

Full Time, Part Time Plus, and Part Time options available. Starting hourly rate is $17.00/hour and increases with experience.

Essential Job Functions

1. Makes rounds to resident rooms at least every two hours to ensure needs are met, including toileting, turning, repositioning, and hydration.
2. Observes symptoms or signs of illness or skin breakdown and reports to nurse in charge.
3. Provides care according to resident care profiles and preferences.
4. Administers bed baths daily and showers twice per week unless requested otherwise.
5. Assists with meals, encourages intake, and documents accordingly.
6. Performs daily personal care and assists with toileting and changing as needed.
7. Positions residents properly and repositions bedridden residents every two hours or more often as directed.
8. Takes vital signs as assigned.
9. Assists with bladder and bowel training and makes rounds for incontinent residents.
10. Answers call lights promptly, maintaining a goal of under four minutes.
11. Assists with resident admission, discharge, and post-mortem care.
12. Documents care provided using MyUnity Point of Care daily.
13. Participates in safety protocols, emergency drills, and maintains infection control standards.
14. Addresses any safety hazards or equipment issues immediately.
15. Maintains a positive attitude, ensuring dignity and quality of life for residents.
16. Mentors new staff and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Valid CNA certification from the Commonwealth of Virginia; prior experience preferred; CDP designation and CNA Skills Review required within 90 days.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to perform duties with accepted methods, communicate effectively, assist licensed personnel, lift at least 50 pounds safely, and use healthcare equipment.
