Job summary

Ciena Healthcare in Michigan is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant for the full/part-time afternoon shift (3pm–11:30pm) to care for residents under RN/LPN supervision. You will assist with ADLs, monitor vitals, and support nursing staff while maintaining safety and comfort in a compassionate environment.

Qualifications

  • Must be a CNA in good standing or graduate of a state approved nursing assistant training program and passed state competency exam within 120 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct resident care, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
  • Measure and record vital signs and intake/output.
  • Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and positioning using proper body mechanics.
  • Respond promptly to call lights and changes in resident condition; report observations to licensed staff.
  • Support residents’ independence and dignity while ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation per facility procedures.
  • Follow infection control, safety, and universal precautions at all times.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents.

The Certified Nursing Assistant cares for residents under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or a licensed practical/vocational nurse. This role assists residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), ensures a safe and comfortable environment, and supports licensed nursing staff in delivering individualized care in accordance with regulatory requirements and facility policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintainaccurateandtimelydocumentation andin accordance withfacility procedures
  • Follow infection control,safety,and universal precaution guidelinesat all times.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a positive living environment

  • Makeroutine rounds on each assigned resident every two hours.
  • Provides skin care andobservesresidents’skin when giving care and reports changes to licensednurse.
  • Modifies own behavior in response to residents’ behaviors.
  • Is aware of developmental tasks associated with the agingprocess.
  • Contributes to the residents’ assessment (MDS/CAA’s) and the plan of care.
Education and/or Experience:
  • High School Graduate/GED
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the certification board or is a graduate of a state approved nursing assistant training program and passed a state approved competency examination (written and skills) within120 daysof employment; nameentered intostate nurse aide registry.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Computer skills arerequired.
  • Meets all state and federal criminal background check requirements.
