SUMMARY: The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for providing resident care and support in all activities of daily living and ensures the health, welfare, and safety of all residents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide assistance with serving meals and feeding; providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
2. Assist with personal hygiene, including giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, shaves, and helping residents with showers, baths, and bathroom travel.
3. Assist residents in ambulating, turning, and positioning.
4. Monitor resident stability by checking vital signs and weight; record intake and output information.
5. Ensure resident comfort by responding to call lights and requests, utilizing resources, and reporting observations to the nursing supervisor.
6. Complete documentation through forms, reports, logs, and records.
7. Maintain privacy and dignity by keeping patient information confidential, complying with HIPAA and related laws.
8. Follow professional standards, company policies, procedures, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws, including JCAHO standards.
9. Update job knowledge via educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in organizations, and maintaining licensure.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with state laws.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Long-term care experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
