Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for providing resident care and support in all activities of daily living, ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of all residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assist with serving meals, feeding, and providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
2. Assist with personal hygiene, including bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, shaves, and help with showers and baths.
3. Support residents in ambulating, turning, and positioning.
4. Monitor resident stability by checking vital signs and weight; record intake and output.
5. Ensure resident comfort by responding to call lights and requests; report observations to the nursing supervisor.
6. Document actions through forms, reports, logs, and records.
7. Maintain confidentiality and protect privacy in compliance with HIPAA and related laws.
8. Follow professional standards, policies, procedures, and legal requirements, including JCAHO standards when applicable.
9. Participate in educational opportunities, read professional publications, join professional organizations, and maintain licensure to stay updated.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current certification as a CNA according to state laws.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Long-term care experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Physical Demands

• Ability to sit, stand, bend, walk regularly, and lift/move up to 100 pounds.
• Sufficient visual and auditory ability for communication.
• Work environment typically moderate noise level.
