About EastPointe Hospital

EastPointe Hospital is a private, free-standing psychiatric hospital for adults located in Daphne, Ala. EastPointe’s clinical and medical professionals assess and evaluate adults in psychiatric crisis. Treatment focuses on stabilizing psychiatric symptoms and preventing psychiatric commitment. Adults admitted to EastPointe will have exhibited life-threatening, destructive or disabling behavior or symptoms. Each patient completes a psychiatric diagnostic evaluation and receives 24-hour clinical care for an estimated three-to-seven-day stay. The goal is for each patient to return to home or to the least restrictive level of care.

Responsibilities

CNA’s in the hospital setting perform daily tasks of obtaining vital signs, accuchecks, performing EKGs as needed, and basic observation and monitoring of consumers on the assigned unit. They also provide patient care for totally dependent consumers and demonstrate the ability to deescalate crisis situations through mindset principles while effectively communicating with staff.

Essential Functions
  • Perform daily tasks such as vital signs, blood sugar testing, intakes & outputs, EKGs, and assisting consumers with activities of daily living (baths, positioning, feeding) under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring and interaction with consumers.
  • Assess consumer behavior daily and record and submit information according to policy and standards.
  • Assist consumers with personal care, activities, current events, and safety issues.
  • Train on basic living skills aligned with psychiatric rehabilitation goals.
  • Recognize elements of a crisis state and know how to deescalate or resolve it.
  • Collaborate effectively with treatment team members.
  • Willingness to work on any unit at BayPointe/EastPointe based on facility needs.
  • Model appropriate behavior, including communication skills, grooming, manners, etc.
  • Meet AltaPointe productivity standards.
  • Provide one-to-one coverage to consumers on special status as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Report accidents or violations to supervisor and HR.
  • Employ suggestions for improvement and actively work to enhance skills.
  • Document in a timely, clear, and concise manner, including consumer problems, progress notes, treatment goals, and services provided.
  • Participate actively in Performance Improvement activities and committees as required.
  • Follow AltaPointe policies and procedures, attend trainings, and seek supervision as needed.
  • Treat consumers with care, dignity, and confidentiality, and be cooperative and sensitive to their needs.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, sitting, and walking in bursts of 5-10 minutes, with the ability to change positions as needed.
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, squatting, and reaching.
  • Lift up to 10 pounds frequently; up to 50 pounds as needed for activities of daily living.
  • Strong grasp for keys and contact during restraint procedures.
  • Pushing/pulling force up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to ambulate quickly to assist in restraint procedures.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and current Certified Nursing Assistant certification in Alabama required.
