Job summary

Samaritan Summit Village is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to support residents during a night shift. Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, documenting observations, and maintaining clean, comfortable patient rooms.

Applicants should have a CNA certification (NYS) and prefer at least one year of experience. Computer skills and strong teamwork are desirable in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: high school level; CNA program graduate; NYS certification or eligible.
• One year or more CNA experience preferred.
• Must document resident observations legibly and accurately.

Responsibilities

• Care for residents in assigned shifts.
• Maintain resident rooms: bed making, tidying, linen disposal.
• Assist with meals, feeding, and activity participation.
• Move residents with equipment and document vitals.
• Communicate with supervisors and coworkers about care needs.

• One year or more experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant preferable.
• Computer experience preferred.
• Works effectively with others, possess tact, discretion and diplomacy.
• Ability to work under stress and complete duties sometimes with numerous interruptions.
• Must be able to communicate information to supervisor and co- workers.
• Assists with tasks to care for our residents.
• Maintains a resident’s room with bed making, tidy up, emptying linen bags.
• Wash resident’s hands and face, assist with nail and hair care, passing trays, passing fluids, entering consumption records, assisting with activities, assisting ambulatory resident who needs queuing.
• Ability to document basic resident observations.
• Must be able to write legibly and be able to accurately document the type of care given.
• Must be familiar with equipment used to move residents, take vital signs and document.
• Ability to understand printed health related material.
• BLS certification preferred.
• New York State Department of Health Certification or eligible for certification as a Long Term Care Nursing Assistant.
• May need to work beyond scheduled hours when necessary.
• Any other associated duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Requirement –

• High school level of knowledge preferred.
• Graduated from Certified Nursing Assistant Program.
• NYS Certified.
