Callista Surgery Center is seeking a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our ambulatory surgery team in Walnut Creek, California on a per diem basis. The CNA supports the clinical team, assists with patient care before and after procedures, and helps maintain a safe, clean environment.

Under RN supervision, you will obtain vital signs, assist with transfers, comfort patients, and help manage the flow of patients through preop and recovery areas.

Qualifications

• California CNA certification is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Experience in ambulatory surgery center, hospital, or PACU preferred.

Callista Surgery Center is seeking a compassionate and dependable Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team on a per diem basis at our ambulatory surgery center in Walnut Creek, California.Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, the CNA provides supportive patient care and assists the clinical team with the safe and efficient flow of patients throughout the surgery center. Responsibilities may include assisting patients before and after procedures, obtaining and documenting vital signs as directed, transporting patients, preparing patient-care areas, stocking supplies, and helping maintain a clean and safe clinical environment.This is a per diem position supporting afternoon, evening, and overnight patient-care needs at Callista Surgery Center. Scheduled hours will vary based on surgical volume, postoperative patient needs, and facility scheduling.Candidates must be comfortable working later hours and providing postoperative patient support throughout evening or overnight shifts.Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care & Clinical SupportProvide basic patient care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse and within the CNA's established scope of practice.Assist nursing staff with preparing and receiving patients before and after surgical procedures.Assist patients with changing, positioning, ambulation, and other activities of daily living as appropriate.Obtain and document vital signs as directed by nursing staff.Observe patients and promptly report changes in condition, behavior, comfort, or safety concerns to the Registered Nurse.Assist with safe patient transfers and transportation throughout the surgery center.Assist patients with mobility and fall-prevention measures.Provide comfort measures and reassurance to patients throughout their experience at the surgery center.Respond promptly and professionally to patient needs and requests.Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.Support the nursing team with patient discharge activities as directed and within scope of practice.Assist with wheelchair transportation and safe transfer of discharged patients as appropriate.Preoperative & Recovery Area SupportPrepare patient-care areas for incoming surgical patients.Assist the nursing team with maintaining an organized and efficient flow of patients through preoperative and recovery areas.Ensure patient bays and clinical areas are appropriately stocked with necessary supplies.Assist with cleaning and preparing stretchers, wheelchairs, and other patient-care equipment between patients according to facility infection-prevention procedures.Assist with positioning patients safely and comfortably as directed by the Registered Nurse.Communicate patient needs or concerns promptly to the appropriate clinical team member.Support PACU and preoperative nursing staff with non-licensed patient-care activities as assigned.Infection Prevention & SafetyFollow infection-control policies, standard precautions, and facility safety procedures.Perform appropriate hand hygiene and utilize personal protective equipment as required.Assist with maintaining clean, organized, and safe patient-care areas.Clean and disinfect approved patient-care equipment according to facility policies and manufacturer instructions.Properly handle and dispose of contaminated materials and waste according to established procedures.Identify unsafe conditions and immediately communicate concerns to the Registered Nurse or Clinical Manager.Demonstrate knowledge of facility emergency procedures and respond appropriately within the CNA scope of practice.Maintain current BLS certification and assist during emergency situations as directed by licensed clinical staff.Facility & Team SupportAssist with stocking and replenishing clinical supplies.Monitor supply levels and communicate shortages to the appropriate team member.Assist with room and patient-bay turnover to support efficient surgical operations.Maintain wheelchairs, stretchers, and other patient-care equipment in designated areas.Collaborate professionally with Registered Nurses, surgeons, anesthesia providers, Surgical Technologists, and other members of the healthcare team.Maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor when interacting with patients, families, visitors, and teammates.Participate in required staff meetings, training, in-service education, and competency assessments.Follow all Callista Surgery Center policies and procedures.Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned and within scope of practice.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.Current California Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.Previous CNA or direct patient-care experience preferred.Previous experience in an ambulatory surgery center, hospital, surgical, PACU, or other acute-care setting preferred.Ability to provide compassionate and professional care to patients before and after surgical procedures.Knowledge of basic infection-control and patient-safety practices.Ability to recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition to licensed nursing staff.CertificationCurrent California CNA certification required.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.Knowledge,
