Position Summary:
The CNA delivers efficient and effective nursing care under the supervision of the Center Nurse Executive/Infection Preventionist/Designee, focusing on positive clinical outcomes and patient/family satisfaction. Responsibilities include performing patient care activities, assisting with treatments, recording vital signs, helping with activities of daily living, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Provide patient care conducive to safety and comfort, including ADLs, vital signs, mobility, positioning, and personal belongings management.
- Assist physicians and licensed nurses with treatments and procedures.
- Make beds, transport patients, and prepare patients for therapy and discharge.
- Participate in care planning, perform skin treatments, apply dressings, and assist with feeding and hydration.
- Record patient data, answer call lights promptly, and maintain infection control practices.
- Report patient condition changes, concerns, or complaints to the appropriate staff.
- Assist with linen management, cleaning, and equipment maintenance.
- Support patient discharge and orientation of new CNAs.
- Promote safety, collaborate with departments, and participate in quality activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and work beyond scheduled shifts if necessary.
Educational/Vocational Requirements:
- Completion of a state-approved CNA program.
- High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
- Verification of TST as per state law.
- Basic computer skills or willingness to learn.
- Attend 12 hours of continuing education annually.
- Compliance with legal, policy, and regulatory standards.
- Participation in orientation and training.
- Report concerns and cooperate with audits and quality assurance activities.
Specimen Collector Responsibilities (where permitted):
- Collect nasal specimens, maintain specimen integrity, and ensure proper labeling and documentation.
- Complete training and competency in specimen collection and processing.
- Utilize PPE appropriately, including respirators.
Qualifications:
- Experience as a Lab Tech, enrolled in nursing school, or related roles.
- Recommendations from CNA/licensed nurses.
- Fit testing for respirator use (N95/KN95).
