The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant at Catawba Hospital to provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric psychiatric patients in accordance with care policies.

Candidates must hold a Virginia Nursing Assistant license and be able to report observations to licensed staff; evening/night shift differentials apply; comprehensive benefits and background checks.

Job Duties

Provides direct patient care to adult and geriatric psychiatric patients that conforms to care and treatment policies and procedures and demonstrates knowledge of population specific needs and competencies.

~Shift Differential: Evening $2.50/Hour Weekday & $3.00 Weekend

Nights $2.25/Hour Weekday & $3.00/Hour Weekend

First Shift Weekend $3.00 Hour

Holiday Differential

Minimum Qualifications

• Current Nursing Assistant License issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing
• Ability to provide direct patient care under supervision of licensed staff; ability to follow instructions and report observations of bio-psychosocial needs and behaviors to licensed nurse in timely manner; skills in providing direction and assistance to patients in activities of daily living; has knowledge of developmental and psychiatric disorders. Demonstrate competencies as defined on Competency Assessment.

Additional Considerations

• Experience as a nursing assistant preferred
• Experience in a behavioral health setting highly desirable
