Job summary

Mercyhealth is hiring a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide patient care across units as assigned, ensuring safety, accuracy, and adherence to standards. Responsibilities include responding to call lights, documenting care, and maintaining a clean environment.

You'll participate in performance improvement activities, train new partners with unit educators, and support telemetry and drainage procedures as directed by RNs. CPR/BLS certification is required within 90 days.

  • Completion of a CNA program.
  • Current CNA certificate in applicable state.
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides patient care as assigned and per routine as defined by educational scope, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures.

  • Answers call lights in a timely and appropriate manner.

  • Documents care provided according to standards.

  • Maintains a clean work and patient environment.

  • Maintains supplies, including scanning, stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.

  • Floats to various units based on identified patient care needs.

  • Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities.

  • Training/precepting new partners in collaboration with unit educator

  • Blood Glucose Monitoring (BGM) with lab personnel

  • Bladder scanning procedure reviewed

  • Bladder scanner training complete (check off sheet for competency)

  • Attaching patient to remote telemetry or bedside cardiac monitor

  • Managing and reporting collection devices:

  • Colostomy, ileostomy or other fecal management systems: care and output measures

  • Indwelling catheters: care and output measures

  • Nasogastric tubes to suction

  • Surgical drains under direction of supervising RN

  • Competent in completing vital signs: Manual process for blood pressure and required reporting of abnormal values to supervising RN

  • Discontinue invasive devices under the direction of the supervising RN:

  • Indwelling (Foley) catheters

  • Nasogastric tubes

  • Peripherally inserted intravenous catheters

  • Similar devices as appropriate

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Completion of a CNA program.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Current CNA certificate in applicable state.

Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.

PAY RANGE:

$17.57 - $25.48
