Job summary

Parker Health and Rehabilitation is seeking Certified Nursing Aides to join our care team. You will assist residents with daily activities, meals, and mobility while following individualized care plans and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required unless student permit.
  • ISDH CNA certification in good standing required; out-of-state CNAs may work up to 120 days.
  • Basic computer skills including Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, skin care, grooming, nails, and dressing.
  • Feed residents, provide bedside water and snacks, and assist with transfers per care plan.
  • Answer call lights and respond promptly per facility policy.
  • Maintain resident rooms, change linens and organize belongings.
  • Observe changes in appetite or skin and report as required.
  • Offer emotional support and help residents gain independence.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information and HIPAA compliance.
  • Document care information as required by policy.
  • Follow safety and infection control procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, skin care, grooming, nail care and dressing needs.
  • Feed residents, provide bedside water, snacks and transfer residents to and from dining areas per nutritional plan of care.
  • Answer resident call lights and respond to requests promptly in accordance with facility policy.
  • Maintain resident rooms: change linens, clean bedside tables and help organize personal belongings.
  • Observe and report any changes in appetite, skin condition or behavior that is not routine and report as required.
  • Offer emotional support, listen, build trust and help residents gain independence.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information and respect privacy at all times.
  • Document care information in compliance with facility policy.
  • Comply with safety requirements, infection control measures and maintain environmental hygiene.
Mandatory Qualifications / Requirements
  • Must possess education and experience prerequisites:
    • High school diploma or GED unless working under a student permit.
    • Must be certified by the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) as a CNA in good standing. CNAs from other states may work up to 120 days pending Indiana certification, same for students not yet certified.
    • Must have basic computer skills, including knowledge of Excel, Word, etc.
  • Must understand safe, effective nursing practices within the state of Indiana.
  • Must possess interpersonal skills:
    • Assist licensed nurse with procedures within the scope of practice for nurse aides.
    • Follow written and verbal instructions, work independently and make independent decisions when warranted.
    • Show personal integrity and handle interactions with respect toward residents, families, visitors, agencies and personnel.
    • Work cooperatively with professional & non‑professional staff.
    • Prioritize performance of tasks, duties and responsibilities per standards, policies and procedures.
    • Maintain discretion and protect confidentiality in compliance with Corporate Compliance and HIPAA.
    • Patience, cheerful disposition, enthusiasm and willingness to assist residents based on their current maturity and physical level.
    • Ability to relays information concerning a resident’s condition to appropriate staff members.
