Primary Responsibilities
- Follow written/verbal care assignments and provide daily care for residents, including:
- Assisting with bathing, toileting, hygiene, grooming, nails, dressing
- Feeding residents, providing bedside water, snacks, transferring to dining areas
- Checking and caring for catheters as assigned
- Turning, positioning, exercising, transferring, ambulating residents
- Responding promptly to call lights and assistance requests
- Maintaining resident rooms and belongings
- Observing and reporting changes in residents’ conditions
- Offering emotional support and fostering trust
- Protecting resident confidentiality and privacy
- Reporting incidents or concerns per policy
Document medical records as required:- Monitoring vital signs, intake/output, weights, and meals
- Completing required documentation and logs
Ensure safety and infection control:- Using protective devices properly
- Following emergency protocols and safety policies
- Reporting abuse or safety concerns immediately
- Maintaining a clean and sanitary environment
Perform additional duties as assigned by staff nurse or designateMinimum Qualifications/Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (or working under a student permit)
- Certified by Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) as a CNA in good standing; transferring CNAs may work 120 days pending certification
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Understanding of safe nursing practices in Indiana
- Interpersonal skills including:
- Assisting nurses within scope
- Following instructions and making decisions independently
- Dealing tactfully with residents, families, and staff
- Working harmoniously with team members
- Prioritizing tasks effectively
- Maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA
- Patience, enthusiasm, and professionalism
- Adhering to ethical standards and communicating resident conditions appropriately
