Job summary

Southwoods Health is seeking an autonomous Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Orthopedics team serving Youngstown and Austintown. You will diagnose, evaluate, and treat acute and chronic orthopedic issues in collaboration with lead physicians and staff.

Responsibilities include comprehensive examinations, ordering imaging and labs, coordinating admissions and discharges, and educating patients and families.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted license as a Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of Ohio.
• Active DEA license; BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Strong critical thinking, diagnostic problem-solving, and precise clinical documentation skills.
• Exceptional communication, prioritization, and time management skills with a proven ability to delegate appropriately.

Position Overview

We are seeking an autonomous, highly skilled Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our growing Orthopedics team serving the Youngstown and Austintown offices. Working under general direction, you will diagnose, evaluate, and treat acute, prolonged, and chronic orthopedic health issues. You will collaborate directly with our leading orthopedic physicians, specialists, and multidisciplinary staff to deliver premium inpatient/outpatient outcomes and exceptional patient experiences.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Clinical Assessment & Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive orthopedic health histories and physical exams; order and interpret imaging studies (X-rays, MRI, CT) and lab tests to formulate initial diagnoses and therapeutic plans.
• Patient Care & Interventions: Deliver therapeutic interventions and orthopedic care in accordance with established medical protocols and collaborative physician agreements.
• Care Coordination: Manage the patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes by writing appropriate orders in close collaboration with the attending orthopedic surgeon.
• Patient & Family Education: Counsel and educate patients and their families on preventative care, medical issues, treatment plans, and the proper use of prescribed medications.
• Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate, thorough, and legible Electronic Medical Records (EMR) detailing evaluations, procedures, and consultations in strict compliance with state regulatory standards and healthcare agencies (OSHA, ODH, TJC).
• Team Collaboration: Keep the multidisciplinary team synchronized regarding patient progress; maintain a cooperative, professional demeanor with coworkers, physicians, and visitors.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education & Licensure: Active, unrestricted license as a Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the State of Ohio.
