Erie Family Health Centers, a top workplace in Chicago and suburbs, is looking for a valuable addition to our Reproductive Healthteam!Certified Nurse Midwife Hospitalists will provide inpatient and telehealth antepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum health care in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease and surveillance of pregnancy. Cares for patients throughout their admission from triage through delivery and postpartum care. Documents all patient care activities.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides triage, antepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum care according to established protocols and per agreement with collaborating physician. Maintains active hospital delivery privileges as requested.
  • Performs history and physical exams on new and return clients.
  • Manages acute and chronic illness according to established protocols and/or in collaboration with physician.
  • Provides telehealth triage of antepartum and postpartum acute issues according to established protocols.
  • Provides follow-up with health care providers or community agencies, as necessary.
  • Keeps accurate and timely records as required.
  • Participates/leads appropriate interdisciplinary teams. Contributes toward development of annual action plan health care plan as appropriate.
  • Initiates and/or participates in on-going QI activities at Erie Family Health Center.
  • Is responsible for Continuing Education Units to maintain safe level of practice and certification.
  • Is responsible for health center and hospital trainings required for privileges.
  • Understands procedures and guidelines for reproductive health care to the Midwifery Team to assure care of the highest quality and maintain compliance with Joint Commission, HRSA, FTCA, Managed Care, Title X, and other assigned standards.
  • Participates in the development of clinical protocols and health center policy/procedure development as appropriate.
  • Performs procedures such as contraceptive implant insertion/removal, IUD insertion/removal, etc. with appropriate training, proctoring, and privileging.
  • Precepts students and participates in faculty/university activities as indicated.
  • Participates in annual performance appraisal/peer review.
  • Interprets the philosophy of EFHC to other staff and clients.
  • Represents EFHC externally as assigned.
  • Maintains an active collaboration practice agreement with an EFHC physician.
  • Adheres to all EFHC policies & procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education

  • Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice.
  • Basic rescuer CPR Certification.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Advance Practice Registered Nurse – Certified Nurse Midwife license in Illinois.
  • Certification as a nurse midwife.
  • Proficiency in medical Spanish preferred.
  • At least 2 years of CNM experience preferred.
  • Comfortable covering a busy L&D
