Job description

Champion CNM? We're hiring!

Labor artist, baby whisperer, vag advocate? Join our team!

YES: Relocation for the right candidate!

At WHA, our patients are our people. Together we're a team of dedicated certified nurse-midwives, OB/GYN physicians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, nurse practitioners and counselors honoring who it is that walks through our doors, as they define and know themselves to be. We're here to uplift them, enriching their health and their lives. As the largest private healthcare company in Oregon dedicated to reproductive health, we take care of 50,000+ beautiful people each year across 12 clinic locations and six regional hospitals. This opportunity is with our Newberg practice.

As a CNM at WHA, you'll have a seamless, parallel partnership with our OB/GYN physicians, a voice at the table as a respected clinician and leader and the full support of our team of specialists-including maternal-fetal medicine, advanced gynecology and perinatal mental health. Our CNMs love working here because the principles we hold dear are reflected in the culture of the whole organization.

It's a special person we're looking for. You're kind, super collaborative, open minded, value-aligned and qualified (more on this below). Maybe most importantly, you are excited to work alongside all members of our team, sharing your compassion with patients who are experiencing extraordinary, vulnerable times-from pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and parenting to contraception, gynecology and wellness care across the lifespan. If you're looking to grow with a respected group that offers ownership, physician partnership, leadership opportunities (ask us about this!) and uncompromised excellence in team-based patient care, we'd love to welcome you to our family!

What We Offer Our Certified Nurse-midwives

Security with flexibility

  • The collective autonomy of a private practice combined with the security and stability of a large group
  • Competitive compensation for a values-driven, evidenced-based-practice clinician
  • The opportunity to become a member-owner
  • Robust benefits, including schedule flexibility, paid parental leave, generous 401(k) contribution, malpractice coverage, medical/Rx/vision/dental and employer-paid life and long-term disability insurance

Professional growth + support

  • Unlike many organizations, midwives and physicians work side-by-side at all levels, from the front lines to our board of directors
  • Comprehensive onboarding and ongoing training (EMR, IT, Coding, DEI, etc.)
  • Year-long, structured mentorship program
  • Scheduled talks, publications, recommendations and point-of-care support in alignment with evidence-based practices
  • In-house lab (including COVID testing), ultrasound, mammography and behavioral and mental health clinicians
  • Amazing nursing, clinical and operational support team in clinic and always a call, email or text away
  • Dedicated credentialing, billing and coding, finance, contracting, purchasing, patient relations, risk management, compliance, human resources, IT and marketing specialists
  • Generous CME that increases with time; significant Membership coverage
  • The opportunity to grow into local or organization-wide leadership roles

One-of-a-kind destination living

  • Be close (within 90 minutes close) to our stunning coastal beaches; Columbia Gorge hiking; Mount Hood skiing; Willamette Valley wine country; and all the craft brews, farm-to-table, maker culture, urban-neighborhood or suburban-community charm you can dream of enjoying

"WHA's values are naturally aligned with the hallmarks of midwifery. Our candidates often say it's because of our values that they want to be here. This is a unique place where you won't find yourself spending energy to fight the system. We are truly a seamless, side-by-side team with our physician partners, which not only means we are partners in the care of patients, but also that we can buy in as business owners. You don't see this at other organizations." ~Lauren McKenzie, CNM, MSN

What You Bring To The Table

  • Master of Science degree in nursing required from an accredited school of nurse-midwifery required
  • Current Oregon state licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive privileges (NP-PP Nurse Midwife) required

  • Current CPR certification required
  • Intrapartum work experience preferred
  • C-Section/First Assist in surgery experience preferred
  • Skill in case management, time management, problem solving, crisis intervention and multi-tasking in a team care environment preferred
