Position Summary

Functions as a direct patient caregiver assisting registered nurses with hands-on care, ADLs, and technical tasks under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs, weights, and intake-output measurements.
• Encourage patient activities like turning, coughing, and using spirometry.
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, and transport.
• Attend to nutritional needs, including feeding and distributing water.
• Provide personal care, including bathing, oral hygiene, dressing, and changing linens.
• Empty drains, canisters, urine bags, and record intake/output.
• Maintain a safe environment, report equipment issues, and handle supplies properly.
• Assist with positioning, turning, and use of ambulatory devices.
• Collect specimens, perform basic procedures like ROM, and assist with equipment setup.
• Respond promptly to patient calls and report changes in condition.
• Follow infection control policies and document patient records accurately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• No specific education required; must meet licensing standards.
• Hospital experience preferred; knowledge of medical terminology beneficial.
• Ability to operate computers, good interpersonal skills, reading comprehension, basic arithmetic.
• Must hold CNA licensure from Tennessee upon hire; out-of-state hires must have it in process. CPR certification required.
