Job summary

Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center (HRRMC) in Colorado is seeking compassionate CNAs or EMTs to join our patient‑centered care teams in a dynamic setting in Salida, CO. You will provide essential patient care and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support recovery and well‑being.

Responsibilities include vital signs, EHR documentation, assisting with daily living activities, and timely escalation to the nurse.

Qualifications

• Certification as a CNA or EMT-B is required or in process.
• Colorado CNA license within 4 months of hire; BLS/CPR.
• BLS within 30 days of hire; EMT-B or NREMT acceptable; RN program in progress.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care as assigned by the nurse, including vitals and daily weights.
• Document data and care in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Respond to patient call lights and report changes to the nurse.
• Assist patients with daily living activities (eating, bathing, dressing, hygiene).
• Assist with ambulation per weight‑bearing status and rehab guidance.
• Act as behavioral health safety sitter when needed.
• Maintain clean, clutter‑free rooms; assist with discharge/admission prep.
• Collect urine and stool samples as delegated by nursing staff.

Essential Duties

• Provide patient care as assigned by the nurse, including taking vital signs, daily weights, and tracking dietary intake/output.
• Accurately document data collected and care provided in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Respond promptly to patient call lights, address patient needs, and report changes in condition to the primary nurse.
• Assist patients with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene.
• Safely assist with patient ambulation based on weight‑bearing status and guidelines from RN or Rehab staff.
• Act as a behavioral health safety sitter when needed.
• Help maintain clean, clutter‑free patient rooms and assist in discharge and admission preparation.
• Collect clean urine and stool samples as delegated by nursing staff.

Summary

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

• Certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) or certification within 4 months.
• Or EMT-B state or national level.
• Graduate Nurse: associates degree in nursing (ADN) or bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN). May only work a maximum of 4 months while waiting to pass RN boards.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Colorado State Certified Nursing Assistant License within 4 months of hire. BLS/CPR.
• Or EMT-B or NREMT Or Graduate Nurse with evidence of successful completion of RN program.
• BLS within 30 days of hire.
