Job description

Join UVA Health as a Nursing Assistant in the Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU

UVA Health, a Magnet Recognized academic medical center and level 1 trauma center, is seeking dedicated Nursing Assistants to join our team in the 20-bed Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU (TCV ICU). Our ICU cares for patients undergoing complex cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgeries, including CABG, valve procedures, heart and lung transplants, and more. Patients may require mechanical circulatory support and ECMO, with recovery lasting a minimum of 24 hours or longer.

Position Details
  • Part-time, rotating shifts
  • Assist patients with personal care and support recovery
  • Perform basic nursing skills under RN supervision
  • Ensure a safe environment and support administrative functions
  • Maintain necessary skills and competencies
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • No experience required; relevant experience preferred
  • Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) certification through the Virginia Board of Nursing
  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
Physical Demands

Frequent bending/stooping, driving (Home Health Aide only), ability to lift/push/pull 20-50 lbs, and >100 lbs (Home Health Aide only). May be exposed to chemicals, blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases.
