Our 6North unit is a 12-bed intermediate care unit utilizing critical care and neuroscience principles. It cares for patients transferred from the Neuro ICU, including those with neuro trauma, hemorrhages, ENT cancer surgeries, post-operative spine patients, and other neurological issues. The unit receives direct admissions and transfers for closer monitoring. The NIMU nurse monitors ICPs, manages B/P with IV medications, and supports patients requiring mechanical ventilation or pressors, under the supervision of a MET team, BERT, nurse practitioners, and house staff.
Position Details:
Compensation Range: $15.37 - $23.82 hourly
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: No experience required; relevant experience preferred
Licensure: Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) certification through the Virginia Board of Nursing and AHA BLS Healthcare Provider certification
Frequent bending/stooping, driving (Home Health Aide only), and lifting/pushing/pulling 20-50 lbs (or >100 lbs for Home Health Aide). Must have proficient communication, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail; and may be exposed to chemicals, blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases.
