Job Description for Nursing Assistant at UVA Health

UVA Health, a Magnet Recognized academic medical center and health system, is seeking dedicated Nursing Assistants to join our team. We are a Level 1 trauma center and one of 70 National Cancer Institute designated cancer centers. As a Nursing Assistant, you will support our team of nationally recognized physicians, nurses, and specialists in providing family-centered care. The role involves assisting with patient care in the Women's Place, which serves approximately 4,000 obstetric and newborn patients annually, with facilities including private rooms, triage rooms, labor-delivery-recovery suites, and more.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist patients with personal care to promote recovery during hospitalization.
2. Perform basic nursing skills delegated by an RN, in accordance with policies, to promote patient health and wellness.
3. Ensure a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
4. Provide administrative support as needed.
5. Maintain necessary skills and competencies.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or Equivalent.
• Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) certification through the Virginia Board of Nursing.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
• No experience required; relevant experience preferred.

Physical Demands

Ability to frequently bend/stoop, lift/push/pull 20-50 lbs (and >100 lbs for Home Health Aide), and operate a vehicle. Must have proficient communication, auditory, and visual skills, and attention to detail. Exposure to chemicals, blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases may occur.

Additional Information

Position offers a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates with a 12-month work commitment. Full-time schedule of three 12-hour day shifts (07:00-19:30).
