Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina Lancaster campus is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) / Patient Care Technician (PCT). Under RN supervision, you perform multi-skilled patient care, assist with personal hygiene, mobility, and comfort, and help transport patients to tests and procedures.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED; CNA program completion within 6 months is preferred if not yet certified.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a CNA program within 6 months preferred if not already certified.
• Preferred to be currently registered as a Certified Nurse Assistant in South Carolina; must be current on the Nurse Aide Registry if certified.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) with the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists nursing team with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of patients.
• Assists patients with personal hygiene, dressing, walking; changes bed linens and assists with patient transportation to tests and procedures.
• May serve and collect food trays and provide patients with between-meal nourishment; may record temperature or vital signs under direction of a nurse.

Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: 3 – 12 hour shifts per week

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Patient Care Technician (PCT) works under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The CNA/PCT performs multi-skilled duties within the limits of training and certification in caring for the patient.

Assists nursing team with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of patients. Assists patients with personal hygiene, dressing, walking. Changes bed linens and assists with patient transportation to tests and procedures. May serve and collect food trays and provide patients with between-meal nourishment. May record temperature or vital signs under the direction of a nurse.

Minimum Training and Education

High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of a CNA program within 6 months is preferred if not already certified.

Required Licensure, Certifications, and Registrations

Preferred to be currently registered as a Certified Nurse Assistant in South Carolina; must be current on the Nurse Aide Registry if certified. Basic Life Support (BLS) with the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
