Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) / Patient Care Technician (PCT) to work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse in the MUSC Lancaster unit. This role involves multi-skilled patient care tasks to support comfort, safety and daily living activities, including hygiene, mobility and transport to tests.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, completion of a CNA program within 6 months if not certified, SC Nurse Aide

• Preferred to be registered as a South Carolina Nurse Aide with the registry.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing team with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of patients.
• Assist patients with personal hygiene, dressing, walking.
• Change bed linens and assist with patient transportation to tests and procedures.
• May serve and collect food trays and provide patients with between-meal nourishment.
• May record temperature or vital signs under the direction of a nurse.

Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: 3 - 12 hour shifts per week

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Patient Care Technician (PCT) works under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The CNA/PCT performs multi-skilled duties within the limits of training and certification in caring for the patient.

Assists nursing team with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of patients. Assists patients with personal hygiene, dressing, walking. Changes bed linens and assists with patient transportation to tests and procedures. May serve and collect food trays and provide patients with between-meal nourishment. May record temperature or vital signs under the direction of a nurse.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Training and Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of a CNA program within 6 months is preferred if not already certified.

Required Licensure, Certifications, and Registrations: Preferred to be currently registered as a Certified Nurse Assistant in South Carolina; must be current on the Nurse Aide Registry if certified. Basic Life Support (BLS) with the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
