The Indianapolis VAMC provides inpatient and outpatient care across multiple locations in Central Indiana, serving nearly 70,000 Veterans and dependents annually with medical, psychiatric, neurological, and rehabilitation services.

CNA - Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Assist patients with daily activities such as dressing, bathing, eating, and mobility.
• Help maintain good hygiene by assisting with tasks like brushing teeth and washing hair.
• Monitor patients' well-being, reporting any changes in temperature, mood, or pain to nurses.
• Assist nurses with preparing patients for tests, treatments, and surgeries, including taking vital signs and changing dressings.
• Create a safe environment by preventing falls and responding calmly to emergencies.
• Communicate clearly and kindly with patients, nurses, and healthcare professionals.
• Treat patients with dignity and respect their privacy.
• Accompany patients within the hospital for tests or treatments.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to emergencies.
• Work alongside healthcare team members to ensure quality patient care.

CNA - Requirements:

• Current licensure as a Certified Nurse Assistant in any U.S. state, territory, or district.
• At least 1 year of education beyond high school in healthcare-related courses or relevant experience, or completion of a 2-year accredited program related to nursing or healthcare.
• One year of recent direct patient care experience.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Ability to provide nursing care across various departments including medical/surgical, ICU, ER, Mental Health, and others.
• U.S. citizenship required.
