Job summary

Christian Care Mesquite is seeking a compassionate Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) to provide routine ADL care under the charge nurse and follow the care plan for residents in memory care.

You will document ADLs in the electronic health record, report changes, and support resident independence while maintaining safety and infection control in a memory care assisted living setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and completion of CNA course (Certified Nurse Aide).
• Current CNA certification required.
• No prior experience required; 2 years experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) will provide routine Activities of Daily Living (ADL) care in a manner conducive to the comfort and safety of residents and will be responsible for performing person-centered care according to the care plan (profile) and carrying out the assigned duties by charge nurse.

Job Qualifications:

• Education: High School, Completion of C.N.A. course (Certified Nurse Aide)
• Licensure: Current C.N.A certification (Certified Nurse Aide)
• Experience: No previous experience required - Two years experience is preferred
• Skills: Excellent communication skills and basic computer skills
• Transportation: Ability to ensure timely arrival and stable transportation.
• Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Environmental and Working Conditions:

The CNA works primarily in a Assisted Living Memory Care environment and must be able to move throughout the buildings and grounds as needed throughout the day. It is possible that the work may include exposure to residents' infectious conditions involving Risk Classification Categories 1, 2, and 3**. Environmental conditions will fluctuate. To be qualified for the position, applicants and teammates will have the ability to work in the environment conducive to caring for residents, with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to self or others.

** Universal Precautions Risk Classification Categories **

1. Tasks may involve exposure to blood or body fluids.
2. Tasks do not involve contact with blood or body fluids but could result in performing a Category 1 task.
3. Tasks do not involve any risk of exposure to blood and body fluids.

Physical and Mental Effort:

The CNA works primarily in a healthcare/community environment and must be able to move throughout the buildings and grounds as needed throughout the day. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet resident/family needs and deadlines.

Essential Functions:

• Communicate professionally and effectively with residents, families, professional providers, and teammates.
• Perform and accurately document ADLs in electronic record.
• Document and verbally report resident conditions/changes in conditions in EHRs according to facility procedures.
• Document and report all incidents and/or complaints according to facility procedures.
• Promote resident independence, interacting with residents in a manner promoting mental and physical well-being.
• Perform daily care per the resident's care plan/profile, observed needs, according to facility standards of care and within state regulation and facility policies.
• Assist with admitting, transferring, and discharging residents as assigned by the charge nurse.
• Maintain the resident's environment in a safe and tidy manner, including adherence to infection control practices.
• Recognize and respond and make prompt and accurate judgments with regard to resident care needs.
• Perform assigned tasks in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
• Complete and maintain compliance with Relias Learning courses.
• Perform other assignments as requested.
• Establish and encourage an atmosphere of optimism, warmth, and interest in residents' activity preferences and needs.
