Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to join the float pool on a PRN nights schedule. You will work under the supervision of RNs and LPNs, providing compassionate patient care across multiple departments.

Ideal candidates hold an active NC CNA listing and a high school diploma or equivalent. The role includes patient assistance, vital sign monitoring, and collaboration with a diverse nursing team in a dynamic inpatient setting.

Qualifications

• Current listing as Certified Nursing Assistant in NC Division of Facility Services.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Ability to think critically, make decisive judgments, and work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Monitor vital signs and record results as delegated by an RN.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, ambulation).
• Report abnormal findings or changes in patient conditions to nursing staff.
• Keep patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly.

Join our team where you will provide compassionate care to patients alongside a dedicated team of Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). With multiple departments, you will play a crucial role in assessing patient needs, administering treatments, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. How You'll Contribute

• Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possibly taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
• Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
• Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current listing as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with the state of North Carolina Division of Facility Services and a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Additional requirements include:

• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Licenses: Current Listing as a Certified Nursing Assistant with the state of North Carolina Division of Facility Services with no substantiated findings of abuse, neglect or misappropriation of property in a facility that provides Nursing Care.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent
• Telemetry Tech ONLY: Completion of a basic telemetry monitoring course and/or completion of competency training for basic arrhythmia interpretation may be required as determined by the department director.
• Unit Secretary ONLY: Completion of training in basic unit secretary tasks (i.e., transcription of physician order, computer data entry, etc).
